It’s that time again! The start of the month means a new TBR pile! Last month, I managed to read all but one of the books on my TBR list, so I am hoping I can keep up that trend. Check out the books I am going to be diving into this month!
1. Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult
Bracing myself to read this after I finish my current thriller because some of the subject matter feels a little intimidating, but I am determined to read it, even if I have to alternate books.
2. Indelible by Adelia Saunders
This is the one book I didn’t get to from my August TBR pile! Otherwise, it would have been a perfect flush. Just because I didn’t get to it doesn’t mean I still don’t want to read it, so I am going to make this my priority after I finish my current read, which if the pace picks up may be this weekend.
3. The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman
How have I not read this yet? It’s been on my shelf for over a year, and it sounds like something that I would really enjoy. So I am going to make this a “quick” read for my break. (And quick is in quotes because of my experience with The Vegetarian in July!)
4. Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
This is my current audiobook. I recently binged a few audiobooks while I got into a reading slump with an ARC, but I love World War II fiction, so I am going to continue that binge with this. I have heard nothing but good things about it.
5. Before I Knew by Jamie Beck
Book club book time! Yes, this book as to be on here or I will not make it a priority to read. This is a romance and it sounds like something nice and light.
6. Today Will Be Different by Maria Semple
Last week, I finished Where’d You Go, Bernadette? and I am really intrigued by Semple’s sophomore novel. I’ve been wanting to read it for months, so I am hoping I can ride the wave.
7. Hanna Who Fell from the Sky by Christopher Meades
An ARC for a book that comes out at the end of the month. This book just sounds brilliant, even though it has some themes I have read before, but I feel like it has a lot of potentials.
8. The Visitors by Catherine Burns
This is an ARC I have coming out this month! It sounds really intriguing. It’s about a brother and sister, and the brother is keeping a secret in the cellar and then dies of a heart attack and the sister is forced to confront it, and there may be some dark sides.
9. The Yonahlossee Riding Club for Girls by Anton DiSclafani
This is another audiobook I am hoping to get to this month! It’s been on my digital audiobook shelf, meaning I am pretty sure it was a daily deal somewhere, and Anton DiScalfani’s work is something I’ve been really interested in (yes, The After Party is currently on my shelf) and I am curious about this time period because I seem to read a lot of World War II historical fiction, and a lot of 1920s historical fiction. This kind of hits the sweet spot in between since it is set in the 1930s.
So these are my current goals for September. I am trying to leave a little wiggle room just in case anything else catches my fancy. Plus, a new round robin book should be coming my way shortly.
What are you reading this month? Have you read any of these books on my list? Let me know in the comments below.

Thank you! I am so excited to read these books!
I am actually halfway through the audiobook of Salt to the Sea. Its great on audio and I love the fact that it’s an ensemble cast with four actors each voicing a different character! Hopefully I can finish of the weekend and get something written up next week. 🙂

I read and revised Ocean a few years ago. It’s absolutely fantastic and cemented my fondness for Gaiman even more than Stardust.

That’s awesome! I will admit, I’ve only read one other Neil Gaiman work, but I want to read a whole bunch of his things! Including American Gods, Neverwhere, and Good Omens.

I want to read American Gods and Neverwhere now, too along with Coraline! I’ve attempted to read Good Omens twice, but I just can’t get into it

I have a physical copy and an audiobook! It sounds so entertaining, but I have only gotten through like fifteen percent of the book. Waiting to try again.
