Reading Updates
It’s almost the end of ARC August and I am trying to squeeze in at least one more ARC before the month is through. So I’ve chosen to read See What I Have Done by Sarah Schmidt, which is a retelling of the Lizzie Borden story. Which is going to be interesting because the poem/song I don’t know all that much about the Lizzie Borden.
What Else Have I Been Up To
Thanks to watching The Great British Baking Show, I’ve been wanting to bake. Not like slice and bake either, like full-on make the bread from scratch beak! I blame the fact that all of those desserts end up looking delicious.
I keep meaning to make some macarons, but I keep procrastinating when it comes to ordering the chocolate I need for the ganache. I have everything else that I need so this is really just procrastination. (Or maybe it’s fear of the shipping cost. I do not know!)
Or maybe it’s because it’s a pastry that requires three different preparations just for the cookies, plus time to rest before they go in the over. Seriously, the number of things that could go wrong have going: if I plan to make these for anything important I need practice.
It’s probably more accurate to say, I put everything in the cart, wander off, do something else, and then come back to find the cart has timed out. Then I just get too lazy and don’t put them back together.
So right now I am looking at other recipes that aren’t macarons, and hoping the weather holds out and isn’t humid today so that I can actually make cookies.
Around the Blogosphere
Evelina @ Avalinah’s Books her latest discussion post details five ways to have bookish insomnia. I am the first one, all of the time. Although recently I’ve been five too!
Trang @ Bookidote published a post about her reading habits! The post includes where she reads, what she listens to, and the condition of her books!
Laura @ Reading Sanctuary talked about how to defeat a reading slump. No matter how many posts I read on this subject I don’t get tired of them because we’re all in danger of falling into a reading slump.
Poulami @ Daydreaming Books shared a great discussion about what makes her hit the unsubscribe button.
Analee @ Book Snacks posted a hilarious and very true list about unrealistic expectations in young adult fiction. All I can say is…I AGREE! And at the time, I was reading a young adult book so, yes I was very happy to see someone else share my frustration.
Lauren @ My Paper Infinity talked about the secrets of a good book! Since a lot of what makes a book good is subjective I liked seeing her thoughts laid out clearly, and I agree with her points. (Of course, each point is really a matter of opinion, but…just read the post.)
Breeny @ Breeny’s Books asked what do you want to see more of in young adult literature.
Lois @ My Midnight Musings posted some reasons on why she should read more science fiction! I love science fiction so this post was right up my alley.
That’s it for this week’s edition of The Sunday Post! What are you reading this Sunday? Have you seen any discussion posts that I’ve missed?
Thank you so much for linking to my post!
PS: I love The Great British Bake Off. It’s one of my favourite cooking shows. It’s a real shame it’s not the same anymore.

I heard that Mary, Mel and Sue aren’t there anymore! 😦 That makes me so sad! I don’t know if I will watch once they all go.

Yea I probably won’t either but I have two and a half seasons on Netflix! I mean, it just won’t be same without a Mel-Sue sandwich at the end!

I took a class so I have some pretty good instructions the thing is that…different ovens cook at different speeds and temperatures, so I am nervous about trying them at home! I need to order the chocolate though and I found a recipe that calls for freeze-dried raspberries that I need to grab from Trader Joe’s!

Thank you for stopping by Evelina! I hope you enjoy the posts! Baking is a challenge, even for experienced bakers! When I was in middle school my mom was making a cake for boss’s day and realized the next day she forgot to put carrots in the cake. She blamed me because we were talking! Ugh!

😀 well, carrots aren’t eggs, because let me tell you the cake tasted like ash without the eggs xD but I see your point 😀

That would be terrible! I can imagine! Nothing worse than dry cake!

Yes! Finally someone understands me 😀 not many people I know actually like moist cake. There must be something wrong with the cake tradition where I live 😀

They have never had a good cake then! Because moist cake is the best cake! That’s the kind of cake where I want to eat the whole thing.

I always feel like I’ve gained a pound after watching the bake-off. It doesn’t help that I have treats to watch it with haha. I LOVE the show. It’s the one show that my entire family will watch together cause it’s so entertaining and definitely unleashes the baker within me. Thank you for sharing my post. 😀
