To play along you just had to answer the following three questions:
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What are you currently reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
This week left me in a bit of a reading slump. (Probably the little red book with some heavy themes I finished.) But despite my brief lag, I was able to finish a couple titles. Take a look at this week’s updates!
This week I finished Han Kang’s chilling debut The Vegetarian. It’s a short book, but it is a really intense read. My thoughts on it are in the queue for this coming week.
I just finished Yesterday by Felicia Yap, which came out, ironically yesterday, which I have mixed feeling about. While I liked the premise I think that by the end of the book many of the characters are unlikable, but that may be a result of the premise itself. A full review is forthcoming, where I’ll unpack all of that a little more.
I also finished a short audiobook called South on Highland by Liana Maeby. Still forming my thoughts on it.
I decided to dive right into my ARC August reading list with Rabbit Cake by Annie Hartnett. It starts off really well and I am loving the characters.
I am still reading Almost Famous Women, which I didn’t finish as my outside book for Booktube-A-Thon because it was kind of rainy and cold. Since it’s short stories I’m kind of fitting them in as I can so that I can process each one individually, and I am about a third of the way through the collection.
What I Will Read Next
I am going to jump on the book club book so that I can make sure I am prepared for our meeting in a few weeks. This month, my indie is reading The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Karen Barnhill. Since it’s a middle-grade book I think I should finish it within a week.
After that, I am hoping to pick up The Immortalists by Chloe Benjamin, which is another book on my ARC August list.
That’s it for WWW Wednesday! What have you been reading this week? Have you read any of these books? Let me know in the comments below.
