The Ultimate ‘Harry Potter’ Tag

I don’t recall ever seeing this tag, but between the anniversary coming up and Harry Potter’s birthday I thought that I would do this tag!

So, Happy Birthday Harry Potter!

1) Favorite book?

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows because I just have to give her major kudos for tying up as many bits of this world as she did.

I think this series went out on a pretty high note. Yes, there are character deaths, but J.K. Rowling did pull together several threads that were resolved, and that’s not something I see in a lot of series.

2 ) Least favorite book?

I’m supposed to have a least favorite book? I think my least favorite was probably Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

3 ) Favorite movie?

I think my favorite movie is Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It’s a tough draw, but I think this is the first movie where the stakes were really raised to an “oh my god, this is terrible and we’re all going to die” level. There was less attention paid to things like the hippogriff (which I love), but more focus on suspense and plot.

Also, Professor Delores FREAKIN’ UMBRIDGE!

4) Least favorite movie

I think that if I had to rank them, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets would be my least favorite. There are parts of it I like, but overall, it just isn’t the one I would reach for.

But it’s really a toss-up because I love Molly Weasley’s introduction, but at the same time Gilderoy Lockhart!

5) Favorite quote?

It’s a tie between Arthur Weasley’s “What exactly is the function of a rubber duck?” in Chamber of Secrets, and Severus Snape’s “Obviously” when questioned by Umbridge in Order of the Phoenix! Although, the later is more that I just love how Alan Rickman delivers the line.

6) Favorite Weasley?

Because I am a knitter, I feel like I should say Molly Weasley!

7) Favorite female character?

There are so many awesome characters in Harry Potter, but the first character I really loved was Hermione.

8) Favorite villain?

Bellatrix Lestrange! I wrote an op-ed about her character and how she inspired me to be a little more outspoken before the final movie came out in 2012. It came out five years ago this year!

Excuse me while I go and have a slight panic attack about how much time has passed. (Although, fun fact…still have the necklace and I do wear it on occasion!

9) Favourite male character?

I love Remus Lupin. He was an awesome Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, and I was really sorry that he had to leave after one year because people didn’t understand his “condition.”

10) Favourite professor?

My favorite professor is Severus Snape. I think it’s because I think I would be an awesome at potions, but I also think that I would like his challenging teaching style. It would make me a better witch!

11) Would you rather A) wash Snape’s hair or B) spend a day listening to Lockhart rant about himself?

Oh god, A! I realize Snape would probably jinx me, but at least after I washed his hair he would at least leave me alone for the rest of the day.

12) Would you rather duel A) an elated Bellatrix or B) and angry Molly?

I am going to say A, but for all I know I’d be dead either way.

13) Would you rather travel to Hogwarts via A) Hogwarts Express or B) Flying Car?

Hogwarts Express, mostly because I don’t think Hogwarts has parking spaces for flying cars. Of course, just me,  getting around everyday, flying car all the way!

14) Would you rather A) Kiss Voldemort or B) give Umbridge a bubble bath?

Neither of these sound great. So I have to counter with, which version of Voldemort? Honestly, no matter what the answer, I would probably still kiss Voldemort. I don’t trust Umbridge not to somehow turn the bath solution into a weapon, and I just don’t need that trauma every time I look at soap!

15) Would you rather A) ride a Hippogriff or B) ride a Firebolt?

Hippogriffs are cooler! That is all I am going to say about that!

16) Is there a character you felt differently about in the movies?

I can’t think of any.

17) Is there a movie you preferred to the book?

Not possible with these books and movies. I am a firm believer that the book is its thing, and the movie is its thing, and the best anyone can hope for is that it enhances the experience.

18) Richard Harris or Michael Gambon as Dumbledore?

This is hard because I love how Richard Harris plays Dumbledore in his first two movies, but Michael Gambon gave us some great behind the scenes moments, and I liked hearing him deliver some of Dumbledore’s most memorable quotes.

19) Your top thing (person or event) that wasn’t in the movie that you wanted there the most?

I really wished that they’d included the potions task in Sorcerer’s Stone. I don’t know why, but always bothered me that that task was absent from them getting to Quirrel and the stone.

20) If you could remake any of the Harry Potter movies which would it be?

I would go through and remake all of them. I don’t think I would recast them so much, but I want to add a few things. Top things I’d want to include: S.P.E.W., I want to rewrite any scene involving The Black Sisters (including introducing Andromeda), I would include Neville’s parents and the visit to St. Mungo’s.

21) Which house was your first gut feeling you’d be a part of?

22) Which house were you actually sorted into on Pottermore?

23) Which class would be your favorite?

Potions, it reminds me the most of chemistry and I was actually really good at chemistry. Plus, I think I would actually really enjoy Snape’s insane teaching style.

24) Which spell do you think would be most useful to learn?

I think I need to all the spells because they are all useful in different ways. Accio would be at the top of my list because then I would never lose things. But I used to babysit and I can see a few uses for immobulus!

25) Which character do you think you’d instantly become friends with?

I feel like Luna Lovegood and I would get along really well!  I feel like we’d both be really close and really awkward at the same time.

26) If you could own one of the three Hallows, which would it be?

The invisibility cloak would be my pick. I could slip in and out of places very easily and no one would even know I am there.

27) Is there any aspect of the books you’d want to change?

No, I can’t think of any.

28) Favorite Marauder?

Hmmm, I think Padfoot is definitely my favorite. Sirius is such a good godfather to Harry, and the man had skills!

29) If you could bring one character back to life, which would it be?

There are so many characters that I want to bring to life: Sirius, Fred Weasley, but I think I would bring Severus Snape back to life. I’ve read quite a few fanfics where he manages to survive the Battle of Hogwarts, and I always wish that those could be a reality.

30) Hallows or Horcruxes?

Hallows! Horcruxes are just more trouble than they’re worth. I mean that locket made Harry, Ron, and Hermione ready to rip each other’s throats out while they tried to destroy it.

 31) Favourite Harry Potter canon ship?

Does Lucissa count? I know they’re not the focus of the books, but they are together so we can call them canon.

32) Favourite Harry Potter non-canon ship?

Don’t judge my non-canon ships! It’s my own version of escapist reading.

And that concludes The Ultimate ‘Harry Potter’ Book Tag. What do you think of my answers? How are you celebrating Harry Potter’s birthday?

  1. You didn’t like the Chamber of Secrets?? NOOOO I love that one. But my little brother used to be terrified of Dobby (and we would tease him about it all the time), so that might be why I like it so much…. Does that make me a terrible sister?

    1. Here’s the thing…I like all the books and movies. I hate when tags like this ask me what my least favorite is, because it depends mostly on my mood! I love Dobby and that’s probably what makes me keep coming back to Chamber of Secrets. 🙂

  2. oh Gilderoy Lockhart was always my favourite part of the films!! So I get what you mean! heheheh that is a brilliant quote!! Bellatrix was always the best villain for me too- partly cos she killed my favourite character, sirius :/ haha yeah I think that you would be dead either way lol! hehehe 14 made me laugh so much! I get what you mean about Snape- I wish he hadn’t died too. I love the questions on this so much!! 😀 Fantastic post and answers!

    1. Thanks for the comment! Gilderoy Lockhart is great! I just don’t want to listen to him talk all day.

Bellatrix is alway my favorite! I actually have her wand and dagger in my collection.

Let’s be honest…there is really no winning with the Umbridge bubble bath question, but I am more afraid of her than Voldemort…so…yea…at least that’s probably just a few seconds.

    1. There are so many douche-y characters in books period and I figure I can forgive some douche-y behavior if they grow out of it. I need to give the HP books a sold reread soon. I feel like my memories are hazy and I would just like to soak myself in the story all over again.

      1. I think I’m more forgiving of Harry now, because time has made me reflect on where he was coming from, but still his emotional state didn’t excuse how he treated his friends. I’ll say that JKR did at least nail how a teenager in his situation would handle such an issue. I need to reread them myself!

  3. I love chamber of secrets one of the best – but we are all different – I love the series and celebrate it at @gryffindor_tribe and Gryffindor Tribe (all welcome) fb group ☇

  4. What a great tag ! I agree so much with what you said about Bellatrix and Sirius… and finally someone agree that the SPEW should have been part of the film since it gave me so much giggles and since it’s also very accurate ethically.
Team Slytherin by the way !
