The Blogger Aesthetic Tag

I saw this over at The Girl Who Reads Too Much and it really spoke to my soul at the moment so I thought I would steal it seems like a fun concept and I am on a bit of a Pinterest binge with a craving for beautiful images.

The Blogger Aesthetic Tag which was created by Liam @Hey Ashers. I really loved the concept of this tag:

Bloggers are (let’s just be honest here) the absolute best. There’s so much diversity and personality and creativity in this community—and what better way to celebrate those things than by spending the next twelve hours of our lives hunting down and collaging the images that best reflect our individual awesomeness?

The Rules:

  • Collect any number of images that you feel represent you as a person—your personality, aspirations, favorite things, anything at all that makes you you.
  • Put your chosen images together into a collage of whatever size and shape you find pleasing.
  • Share your masterpiece with everyone, in all the places.
  • Maybe nominate other bloggers as a way to tell them, “Hey, you, I think you’re awesome, and we should celebrate that awesomeness.”
  • Share these rules (and maybe the below tips, if you’re feeling helpful).

So, here we go! Let’s see the images that I picked! My blog tends to run mostly neutral with a lot of photos, so for this exercise, I went with three colors I was drawn to, and that’s tangerine orange, flamingo pink, and oceanside blue.

Tangerine Orange

My love of orange is odd because I never really liked the color growing up. When they colors started getting a little more complex I was gravitating more towards it. My prom dress was actually a shade of orange. It was the first dress that I tried on and it made every other dress pale in comparison. (And yes, I did try on flamingo pink and ocean blue dresses too.)

I’ve also been fortunate enough to do some Stitch Fixes over the last year, where I’ve pinned clothing and styles that I’ve liked from magazines into a Pinterest board, filled out a style profile, and communicated with a stylist about upcoming events. A recent note from my Stylist Karoline, said she included an orange top because it was “the best for my complexion.”

Flamingo Pink

Like a lot of young girls, I loved pink. Then I steered away from it for several years, and now I find myself coming back to pink. I love using this color as an accent on main images.

Although it may not be a true “flamingo” pink, it feels appropriate to me, because shortly after I started watching The West Wing I started seeing flamingos everywhere. Now, I get that they are a design aesthetic, and just a really interesting looking bird, but the timing was such a coincidence that I couldn’t help but laugh a little, considering C.J. Cregg’s secret service code name is “Flamingo.”

Oceanside Blue

I can’t remember when I first learned blue was calming, but I think it may have been around the same time I learned that people in the 18th Century used to go to the seaside when they were feeling ill. Since then, I’ve associated a tranquil blue with peace and serenity.

So there you have it, three collages that accurately describe my blogging aesthetic. I am going to tag a few people to spread the love.

My Advice:

Think of a color you’re particularly drawn to. If you really love it, it will have already shown up on your blog somewhere. Try to assign it a name from the litany of names that could describe it and use Pinterest to see what shows up. (You’ll be surprised what shows up when you just type in “orange.”) And have fun with it!

And now, I tag:

Celeste @ Inked Books
Lauren @ Wonderless Reviews
Kristi @ YA and Wine
Eva @ Brilliantly Bookish
Amy @ InkySpells

And, of course, anyone who feels particularly inspired!

What do you think of these colors? Do you have particular colors you gravitate towards? Let me know in the comments below.
